What is Video Editing?
Video
editing is the process of manipulating and
rearranging video shots to create a new work. Editing is usually considered to
be one part of the post production process — other
post-production tasks include titling, color correction, sound mixing, etc.
Many
people use the term editing to describe all their
post-production work, especially in non-professional situations. Whether or not
you choose to be picky about terminology is up to you. In this tutorial we are reasonably
liberal with our terminology and we use the word editing to
mean any of the following:

enhancements.

while others will be software programs for use on your computer. Before you
make any decision on video editing programs, it’s advisable to try each one out
and determine if it suits your preferences as well as your requirements.

Several of these products offer a range of packages from basic to what is considered pro. You will get more advanced editing features, effects and the ability to export video into a number of different platforms.
Each video editing
professional will have his or her own opinions about which program is the best
one to use. In most cases, when you are first starting out in video editing,
investing in the professional line of any of these products may be a sound
decision, but you will likely not take advantage of all the advanced features
available in the Pro versions.
The best thing you could do is to sample each product that you are interested in. Some of these products offer free trials so that you can download them and take 15 or 30 days to try them out and see if they suit your needs.
